it's like a movie about happy anti vaxxers. Very formulaic as well

sigh was interested to see viggo do something new, but it looks like predictable schlock supporting the lifestyle of Jeremiah Johnson wannabe losers like Swamp People on whatever reality BS channel.

Trailer makes me hope Frank Langella gets custody even though it'll clearly be some sappy crap.

reply

So you're saying you haven't seen it and are making an assumption based on how the trailer fits your view on life? I guess I misunderstood the post title.

reply

And he would be right since Hollywood regurgitates nothing but predictable drivel to infinity..... Duuuuuuuuuh

Oh what a day. What a lovely day!

reply

As someone who saw the whole movie, I can confirm OP's assumptions are 100% correct.

P.S. I was ALSO rooting for Langella to get custody of the kids.

reply

If only more parents raised their children like this off grid and away from those nasty poisons like vaccines, public schools, political correctness, etc. The world would be a better place.

reply

LOL!!! Parents DO raise their kids in the woods without vaccines, public schools, political correctness, etc...it's called third world countries! LOLOLOLOLOL!!

In the US anti-vaccine demographics are predominately suburban and left.

Pew has 9% of Democrats believing vaccines are dangerous and 5% Republicans, ie Democrats at near double the number.

And if you want to know where the bulk of idiot kids are, in my opinion it is in suburban environments.

So 9% of Democrats and 5% Republicans are terribly stupid and backwards people? That's good to know.

reply

Don't need an idiot poll to tell me what poison is.

reply

Well, well, how quaint and ignorant.
So, Mennonite and Amish communities are in 3rd-world countries?
Gotta put up a sign with that next time I'll be going through Penna or up North...

Cheers!

reply

Yes.....001% of the US population that is represented in the Mennonite and Amish communities is very indicative of the people in the US. Seriously? So childish to find a way to disagree just for the sake of disagreeing. The REST of the world that lives that way is GENERALLY 3rd world countries. Nit picky enough for you borzislav?

All religious sects that isolate themselves practice magical medicine. Anti-vax is paranoia over contamination. Traditional Mormons, Anabaptists, Jehovah Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Doukhobors.

In the last 40 years New Agers have rejected medical science and adopted magical/traditional medicine and its paranoia of Big Pharma. Meanwhile China and India are going in the other direction.

Anabaptists (mennonites, amish) live as if it's the 19th century. Their own schools, no TV/computers or even electricity, some use horses (especially Sundays).

Pro-vaxx is just another dogmatic cult. Medical Science is dogmatic too, bought and paid for by the corporations.

Do you know how pharmaceutical companies would make a lot of money, like A LOT more than they do now I mean? If no one was vaccinated and they became afflicted with those diseases that vaccines prevent and they had to be treated, that way they would make A LOT more money. Whenever you have to spew out silly conspiracist *beep* like what you just wrote, remember that.

those nasty poisons like vaccines

Are you for real? LOL

reply

You are MUCH more likely to find anti vaxxers in suburban left demographic than this film's subjects' demographics.

I dunno, the impression I get is of a typical suburban leftie who hit the lotto or married the boss's daughter or some such and moved into the woods to sing kumbaya and stare at his navel.

reply

Typical profile of a pro-vaxxer is low iq, fat, lazy and gullible.

reply

It should be illegal for you to have children, because you are a danger to them and everyone else's.

reply

I doubt his character would have been Anti-vax. He seemed relatively educated and intelligent.

The cold winds are rising. Winter is coming.

reply

Yeah, I also found the movie to be very formulaic. And that was only one of its problems.
