Kelley Blue Book

I'd never heard of the Kelley Blue Book, but when the Colonel, Billy Bob Thornton blasts off his line about anyone knowing the Kelley Blue Blue value of a 1989 Toyota pickup, I just had to Google it.

Turns out from what I found that the KBB does not list Toyota pickups ... so, guess the Colonel doesn't know either ... he he

Interesting! However I doubt a 1989 Toyota pickup would be worth $80K ;)

Of course not, those things sell secondhand for maybe $2000 or 3000 at most.

But what i did find odd was that the colonel wasn't thinking of his men first. I'd say destroying a threat to the lives of his soldiers was certainly worth an $80 000 piece of ordinance.

Kelly Blue Book has been around for along as I can remember and does list Toyota pickups. Currently (online) they only go back to 1992 (@ least for Toyota pickups) however in ~2004 (when the film is set) they would have gone back prior to 1989. Today (late 2016) KBB lists a 1992 Toyota Regular Cab pickup with ~158K miles in "good condition or better" at a fair "purchase price" of $2,212.

Who in their right mind would pay that for a 24 year old truck with 160K miles? I want to meet them, I've got some land I'm interested in unloading.
