John Simms character on Dr. Who
The Master on Dr Who did the same thing! Wonder if casting John (a very talented actor) Was a nod to the character he portrayed.

What do you mean he did the same thing? He did what?
His "Master" personality was hidden in the body of a kindly old doctor. When triggered, his real, evil personality took over and he regenerated into the John Simms version of the character.
Not exactly the same as he didn't really jump into someone else's body during that period of the show. He just disguised himself and suppressed his true personality.
The character did take over someone else's body during the horrible, 1996 American TV movie, but John Simms wasn't involved in that in any way.
