Ok, I get it to some extent. Bill Anderson's machine may have revealed the souls (or minds) of those going from one body to take possession of another. I have books on psychic research going back to the 1960s which talk about life after death, the transmigration of souls, scientific and pseudo-scientific attempts to see beyond the veil. I guess I should just wait for the next 4 episodes and see if the writers have come up with a novel twist on the psychic medium tradition. Or if it turns out to be the same old smoke and mirrors.
Personally, I believe all talk about life after death to be hogwash, whether it's psuedo-scientific wonky science talk attempting to prove it...or any religious hogwash fairy tales running their holy confidence schemes.
But a part of me can suspend disbelief when watching a horror or sci-fi tale that deals with this phenomena because as long as it gives me credible or sympathetic characters who make me believe that THEY BELIEVE what they're encountering, then I can buy into it for dramatic purposes.
I don't belive in a god or a devil, but The Exorcist and The Omen still scared the hell out me!
Now who can argue with that? Not only was it authentic IMDb gibberish, but it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age! I think we're all indebted to "nxgn" for clearly stating what needed to be said!
A "walk-in" is where the original soul of a human leaves a person's body and another soul "walks-in". Souls "walk-in" usually during an accident or trauma, where the person either regains consciousness as a "walk- in" and forgets some things depending on the severity of the experience, or if they didn't lose consciousness the human will experience death and rebirth in one lifetime. (Wikipedia)
"Walk-ins" are supposed to be advanced souls not needing to suffer the whole process of being reborn and growing, they can walk-in with their memories intact.
I read a book "Strangers Among Us" by Ruth Montgomery who wrote about walk-ins years ago so this show reminds me of that, but this show also has them acting like a gang of thugs. So maybe there is a different name for these "walk-ins"...
Solitaire40.... I think I meant to say that if the TV show The Intruders is meant to share the same "Earth" that I (and presumably you) are in, then there are psychic researchers where-ever you look. Not only are the cable tv channels filled with alternating notes on the theme but I myself live just 20 miles from where Ed and Lorraine Warren lived together for many years.
Ed Warren died in 2006, at the age of 79. I grew up in Trumbull and then moved to Bridgeport years later. At one time the Warrens were called to investigate a "haunted Home" that my father and uncle happened to own. Supposedly there was a lot of poltergeist activity witnessed by many people. I kept away from the house... running into crazies has never been a fun activity for me.
But anyway, my initial thought was: "Why Bill Anderson?" "Why did his discovery merit death and all the other investigators with infra red lights to orgone energy detectors... why did they get to live?"
I mean, Bill Anderson's explanation for how his machine worked was hardly earth shattering. I'm certain that in the real world people are using both audio and visual devices to see farther into the hidden spectrums, and to hear sounds that normal human ears do not catch. This group of "Intruders" could not possibly hope to kill everyone who had a positive result with their equipment.
So, I guess I just don't understand the urgency to kill off so many people. Maybe I missed something?
