Triggers and Second Soul Recognition

First of all, I really enjoy this show and hope we get a second season. James Frain as Shepherd and Millie Bobby Brown are incredible talents and hope to see more of them. I could have gone without Jack as I suppose I found his character kind of annoying.

The idea of a seminal object important to the second soul being the trigger to awaken a second soul is great. However, the series never failed to address how they identify a particular second soul Qui Reverti member in a different body. Yes, there is a scene where Rich Shepherd confirms Rose's dead jazz love Biggs in a waiter but it was obvious he knew going into that he knew this was him. So how can they predict which soul goes into whom? The trigger allows them to awaken but does not identify them. Any ideas? I'm starting to read the book to get answers but so far no luck only more questions.

just finished this series (loved it) and i was wondering the same thing

i haven't read the book so no idea if it is explained there, my theory is that when a person dies, it's active soul hops in to a newly born person

(that's why madison/marcus was 9, this is the amount of time that has passed since old marcus died)

i wonder about the location, rose/amy was living in italy, russia and america - must have been hard to track her
