Well, that's lame.

Too bad it got cancelled. Then again, can't say I'm too suprised either. It was pretty dark and slow going. That turned a lot of people off right there.

reply

Ah damn.

reply

Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing where the show would have gone in a second season (season 1 was 90% faithful to the novel, which I had read already, so it held few surprises for me).

damn, I just finished this. Well, thats 8 hours I won't get back.

Isn't a huge surprise, dark fantasy shows always bomb, TV execs don't want a few loyal fans, they want millions of easy to please ones. But a shame great ex X-files writers Glen/Darin Morgan can't land a show to run a few seasons (as they're still both hugely inventive writers).

reply

To be fair: the show did not do the best job in hooking its audience. While I enjoyed watching it, I could not have said in which direction it is moving. The big question was missing. That made it more difficult to sell.

which explains the audience rejection and swift cancellation of "Game of Thrones"

GoT has the advantage of miles and miles of tits and full-frontal nudity. Plus, it really is fairly sraight-forward storytelling.

But mainly it's the tits.

The BBC should not be chasing viewers as its highest priority. Their self-professed mission is "to enrich people's lives with programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain", not to beat Fox at the ratings game.

Shame on the BBC. They've done this before and surely they will do it again.

It baffles me that BBC cares about numbers. It's not like they need the funding considering the fees we pay. Is this a side effect of BBC America and its advertising schemes?

i'm disappointed. i enjoyed the show immensely. thought it was beautifully done. the young girl actress did a wonderful job, as of course did john simm. happy to see him in this role after enjoying him as the master in doctor who. glen morgan, of x files fame, would get my attention any day. i was a little skeptical of the direction the story was going, but wanted to see it unfold.

Absolutely!

reply

That's truly unfortunate. There is NOTHING like this on television. We need less regurgitation and more originality in TV and this show definitely had it

reply

No! I'm so pissed. I really liked this show.
