Spielberg saw the video recreation (minus the final scene) and gave the filmmakers his blessing.

They now need to do a CGI-enhanced version! Then a 3D version!

I hope they have because it really does wonderfully capture what a 'love for movies' is all about!

Yup...Spielberg has seen it for sure and im pretty sure he referenced Lucas seeing it as well. He actually met with the guys who made it (Chris, Eric, and Jason) and they have a cool picture with him. He called it (paraphrasing) "the greatest bit of flattery that George (Lucas) and I have received".

they're the same guys that did Fanboys. I'm sure Lucas is aware of them as he appeared in it.
