Great Doc, but over rated artist

Illmatic is easily one of the top 5 rap albums of all-time, yet Nas' post-illmatic career is super lackluster

He only has 1 or 2 good albums out of 11 created...

As a former die-hard Nas fan, i thought his career would have surmounted to more than "one classic album on every ten year average..."

Although he may have defeated Jay-Z in the Battle, he lost the war to Jay-Z terribly

Yeah *beep* you

right back at ya

lol are you serious?

nas only has 2 weak albums in his discog and thats not just fan opinion, thats going off critics

jay z on the other hand has 3-4 weak ass albums

Nas hasn't been relevant in a decade... Jay-Z never fell off in relevance...

jay has been riding kanye's coattails since late registration, its clear he's been outshined by his own artists (Ye, beyonce, and rihanna) for well over a decade and hops on their tracks and their remixes to keep his name in the air

the fact is that he has only had one album top 5 in album sales within hip hop in a given year

look at his singles, they are all relevant because of the features, whether thats rihanna, kanye, beyonce, or more recently justin timberlake

jay's commercial appeal outside of them is limited to his shrinking stan base especially after the panned MCHG

nas has been doing featureless albums and albums with no names and they are selling very well and getting critical acclaim - lets not forget he had two albums nominated for grammys in a 5 year period (2007-2012), or that he has i believe around 9 or 10 platinum albums as well as a couple of golds

life is good sold more first week than big sean's hall of fame sold total and was critically acclaimed - as are most of his albums check metacritic

nas has his own little niche and is clearly still influencing the industry hence why j cole, kenny, and drake have all given him props for influencing them - check how many ppl showed up to his ama - note that drake name dropped nas in the best selling album of this year and j cole made an entire song dedicated to him on born sinner

check out the fastest growing hip hop site, rapgenius.com - that's nas' investment. check the most critically acclaimed rap album of last year, rtj2 - that was released through nas' label. MF doom's last joint album also came out on that label.

I'm no jay hater, i own 4 of his albums and i can link my last fm, hes one of my most played artists. but despite not being as commercially relevant as jay, nas has paved a nice niche for himself and continues to release quality projects that are clearly influencing the industry (life is good clearly influenced some of the "grown man" albums that came out after - seen it all, mchg, mmlp2) while jay is floundering critically and needs other artists to do what he is supposed to do better than nas - which is release hits

Real talk. Life is Good is better than every album by Jay after The Black Album. MCHG was a dumpster fire. Jay may be more relevant as far as having his face out there in the public, his albums have been plummeting in quality since American Gangster.
