I really liked the show. It's nice to have another single-camera sitcom with no laugh track or studio audience. A lot of the comedy was subtle and quick (the black canvas painting, whispering of "no emoticons, no emoticons", the harmonica misdirection, etc). I really hope it sticks around.
I'm going to go one above liking it and say I actually loved it. The writing was really top notch, the acting was well done, the flow of the show is constantly interesting, the lack of a laugh track is refreshing, and the overall show came out fantastic.
I was worried after watching the first few minutes of Your Family or Mine (which totally sucked on all accounts) but this was just solid good comedy. It's sad to me that this is just 6 episodes but I hope it gets picked up for more. Really excellent stuff. The small core cast is quirky good stuff.
I watched Episode One mainly out of curiosity, and I liked it well enough to give Episode Two a try--and I'm glad I did. I liked the second episode even more than the first. Not sure if the show will succeed in the ratings, and I have a long history (FRIENDS and SEINFELD being notable exceptions) of liking quirky sitcoms that don't last long. But I hope this one is around for a while.
I'll join in and say I liked it too. I wasn't sure about the first episode until the end and that lip reading scene was hilarious ("Our Lord and Savior Jimmy Carter") and episode 2 was funny enough - I really liked that the ending tied in the two storylines and I was questioning the whole time how and why he spent money on a trip like that, and then we get the answer. I'm willing to watch it even without a new New Girl episode before it.
But sadly end of season shows never last long so we'll have to enjoy it while it's on.
I'm so surprised how much I love this show and that folks means it will get canceled. Yes, I am the "good show killer" so enjoy it while you can because I suspect they'll be cancelling it by fall.
It started off a little meh but quickly got better until it was very good, and it had so much more potential too. Too bad we all knew it wouldn't last. It was really funny.
