Underlying plot of reshooting the scene

Are we supposed to believe that the director of the film would go to all the expense and hassle of reshooting the scene merely to play Cupid's Arrow? Also, in the slim chance that some one might, surely she would tell them she wanted to reshoot a non sex scene. Trying to get a couple back together by forcing them to get naked together immediately doesn't seem the best course of action.
