The horror of "Get a Grip"

"Get a Grip", where Kirby breaks his hand and bad things start to happen to him, while good things start to happen to Dawn who thinks that that the universe has been out to get her for her whole life.

Does anyone else think that if the story was not played for laughs in "Get a Grip" it could have been the basis for a horror film?
