A wasted opportunity...

9. april is an uninspiring an unforfilling effort. Regardless, how terrible war is 9. april is without any character emotion, depth or nerve, and would have worked much, much better as a documentary.

The characters are so stereotyped, which leave the viewer whithout any involvement or identification. Furthermore, 9. april repeat the same scene structure four times - attack and retrive - and then the movie is finished.

Overall, 9. april is a very superficial and a complete wasted opportunity...

They were a bit stereotyped, but I didn't really notice it all that much during the film. I disagree with your other points, though. I felt it had a lot of character, emotion, and depth. It wasn't in your face with any of those points, though.

It was an atmosphere of desperation and disbelief/confusion. I was constantly gritting my teeth as these guys with little to no ammo were constantly facing off against a German war machine they couldn't comprehend.
