Why did all the ships sit back and not come help the flagship until the very end?

reply

I think there were several reasons, and do you mean the Koreans or the Japanese? If you meant the Admiral's Korean ships, it was part of his strategy to separate his flagship and look more vulnerable, so the Japanese would rush in, feeling overconfident. If you meant the Japanese ships, remember that the regular Japanese Navy commanders hated the new guy, the "Pirate King," and I think they almost wanted to see him fail. Also, they were afraid of the Admiral.

I did mean the Admiral's ship, and you explained it well. Thank you.

It's true history
Only general lee's ship fought at frist enagement
others are too scared to face 300 enemy ships

The leader ship smashed several enemy ships alone and surrounded by many,
he ordered his subordinates that if them do not join battle, they will be proceuted by military law and then they moving close to the Admiral's to help him.

From a philosophic perspective and in recollection it was nothing short of an exercise in POS-MO. This was repeated a few times by The Admiral prior to the battle, and over the course of it. In epilogue he attributed it all to 'God,' and upon rebut by his son, the peasants.

From the beginning they were all doomed and most if not all believed it. But one man, and only one man knew what the only course of action was to be had, and I guess the 'power of positive thinking' is what was
underscored in this particular aspect of the perceived cowardice?
