Is Chanel the only other TRUE Haute Couture House?
The lady in the voiceover says that Dior is one of only two Haute Couture houses in the most traditional sense. I'm a fashion merchandising major so I know all about Haute Couture and the requirements of the ateliers and mandatory numbers of workers for the different roles in a Haute Couture house so it's not that I don't understand, I'm just unsure who exactly the one other house is?
My gut feeling and initial guess would be Chanel. I know most of the so-called "couture" collections actually aren't at all by definition of a Haute Couture house.
If it's not Chanel I'm really not sure. I read an article that Givenchy doesn't meet the qualifications of Haute Couture because they hadn't shown a Couture collection for two or so years (must show two collections each year) and weren't making the required number of looks per collection (25 minimum). Otherwise Givenchy would have probably been my second guess.
It's gotta be Chanel but can someone confirm this for me? Maybe this is the wrong site to try and get an answer for this but someone else knowledgable in the area is surely checking this board
