Good documentary

It made me view him as 'the boy from rosario' instead of the international superstar.

The eavesdropping into dinner conversations was a very unique way to present a documentary. I'm sure the wine helped them open up.

I speak Spanish so was half reading the subtitles and half listening in spanish. I notice they didn't translate "El Negro", which the old guy said in reference to Pele.

I particularly liked how the movie was full circle, starting with his relationship with his grandmother and ending with his cemetery visit and tribute he does after each goal. It gave the documentary real heart.

Spot on. He became "the boy from Rosario" in my eyes, too.

It is the negro, and in Spanish culture it is normal to refer to someone as they appear, "el gordo" the fatty, "el maricon" the sissy (or *beep* it's not politically correct anymore but it doesn't carry the same level of offense as it would in Western cultures.

As for Pele, I have no idea if he was referred to just as "El Negro" but googling the term I saw him referred to as "el negro pele" and also another soccor player called Ramos Delgado from argentina who appeared mixed... he had the nickname "el negro" as well.
