Nothing like a Mormon making fun of Christian and Jewish artifacts

After all, there hasn't been a single one discovered from the Book of Morons.

Mormons are Christians, hence the name of the church: The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. im pretty sure the movie, though I haven't seen it, in no way will make fun of actual religion but of odd people and things they do even in the context of their beliefs. That's what half of his movies do.

Religious belief is beyond parody anyway.

If I start a Church that claims Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour, oh and he's also an alien robot and we're all ghosts, that does not make it Christian. I can look askance at naysayers and claim to be Christian, but actual Christians can, rightly, disagree.

It's convenient for certain Christians to claim Mormons are Christian when politically expedient, but Mormons pretty much reject the conventional Christian Church and consider them apostates. It's little said, but if you're a Southern Baptist or a Catholic or whatever Christian sect you adhere to, Mormons think you're going to Hell.

It's only recently that Mormons are trying to reclaim the Christian label.

It's pretty moot, however, as virtually no Christians follow the teachings of Jesus, so have at it. You're all going to Hell.

And if you're Christian and feel like I'm mischaracterising you, may I remind you, blessed are the meek, let him who is without sin cast the first stone and turn the other cheek, bitches. All you shouty, defensive Christians? Going to Hell.

Filthy blasphemous heathen, wj-n3!

Hellfire eternal awaits treacherous swine like you! TURN OR BURN, SINNER!

Your alien robot church WOULD be a christian church. If your religion believes in jesus christ as a savior, it is a christian religion. The end.

You need to go read the "no true scotsman" page. Things aren't what they are defined as just because you WJ-N3 don't like it as such.

Nevertheless, the OP makes a good point. The Bible is at least somewhat congruent with archaeological findings. The Book of Mormon, on the other hand, is completely contradicted by archaeology, despite the Mormon church's efforts to show otherwise.

Does seem like the movie makes fun of humans rather then religions.
There is some egg throwing on christianity sure but seems more like critic about corruption of the church and individual scammers rather then the religion.

Still seems like christians take this kind of jokes fairly well does not seem to be at all as infected a subject as when there are movies making fun out of jews or blacks.

What movies make fun of Jews??? and I'm not referring to self deprecating humour by Jews themselves(no Mel Brooks, Woody Allen or the Coens). Is there any movie like that out there?

This movie reminded me a lot of that guy who was claiming to have divine powers that gave him insight into people's lives... and then it was discovered that his wife was feeding him information through an earpiece about people in the audience based on cards they filled out prior to the show. Oddly, that guy still makes a lot of money and I'm sure his religious followers were mostly mad at the skeptics who exposed him, despite the fact they were clearly scammed. Some people just want to believe in supernatural powers and they'd rather not find out they're wrong.

That being said, I loved this movie. It was funny and had a good story. I can only assume those who didn't like it wanted Don to actually find some real evidence to confirm their beliefs, and they were bummed that the movie stayed realistic.
