So I'm expected to believe.......

That the two that ran away on foot somehow found the group across the lake that even the FBI didn't find? Hmmmm ok. And stationary cameras edit themselves with multiple angles? Meh it was still not bad

my thoughts exactly. plus they were gone for a very long time to discover a van that didn't seem that far away

Yes that was terrible. They even mentioned that they never would've found the house if it wasn't for Sarah. the it only appeared to be a short walk from the house to their camp!

But you're right, wasn't all bad as there were some good scare scenes and Thomas Jane was pretty decent. But the whole movie lost its way when it became evident real ghosts were involved. Would've been much better as a psychologically thriller/horror.

Kind of like who actually was the first person on the moon?

If Neil Armstrong was the first on the moon, then who took the pictures of him taking that "One Giant Leap for Man"?

Was Camera person actually the first person on the moon?

HMMMM!!!

*sigh* conspiracy peeps.... Maybe Google has an answer?:

There were two cameras - Buzz Aldrin had a movie camera running from the window of the Lunar Module, and the film was later developed. The television camera was mounted on the descent stage and as Armstrong descended he pulled a cord that deployed the camera and set it operating.

Hope that clears up your confusion.

The mom was holding the camera before she handcuffed herself to pipe.

The cameras didn't "edit themselves". The characters were watching the camera footage, and we, the audience were watching what actually happened while the cameras were shooting. I was sure I was about to watch another "found footage" movie but I guess the filmmakers felt we deserve better than that instead of getting lazy and shooting it "found footage" style. And I'm glad they have.
