He thinks it's funnier with "fúck" added

Any joke that is remotely funny is killed when he adds the word "fúck" or any of its forms. He thinks screaming "fúck" into a joke makes it killer. It does not. Simply ruins it, unless used very, very sparingly.

Personal fúcking preference.

 ^^^^ he said the f word!

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

I wish he wouldn't do that.

It's very Fucking forced and unnecessary.

reply

Profanity is a sign of weakness.

reply

He is funnier without the stupid profanity sprinkled on top.

reply

Well, we're definitely in the profanity era.

reply

He seems smart enough to know that cursing so much negates the humour content.

I like swearing but it has to be in the right spot. Sometimes it works for him but sometimes it seems so out of place that it's distracting.

I'm not too troubled by that (although he does use that word gratuitously). What I've noticed is his rants seem to be getting stale. It was fresh and funny in the beginning, but the repetitiveness of it all seems to be taking a toll on the quality. Typical John Oliver Bit

"are you fúcking kidding me? This fúcking (insert topic of the day) just fúcked things up for every fúcking American.

Still funnier than anyone on Comedy Central or even late-night (Colbert has lost his mojo since moving over), but his limited range is starting to show.

He relies too much on vulgarity where it's unneeded and - in my opinion - not really funny. Such as the "moon-fracking" comments last sunday. What was that all about? It wasn't funny and wasn't even on the topic. I agree with a previous poster that profanity can be funny, but he overuses it. Which is annoying because he's really funny and doesn't need to use profanity and vulgarity as much as he does.

(It's also really annoying because I like to use his videos in my ESL classes because my students like comedy and current events, but there are some funny videos of his I can't show because they're inappropriate for the classroom, or I have to skip a lot of parts.)

reply

I would rather see him as a "Weekend Update" sort guy without the profanity.

Sparingly? If you can use it at all, then you can use it all the time. Either campaign against it completely or shut the *beep* up!
