The part that I didn't understand...
Why were they being so secretive about no longer continuing their Christmas tradition? It said that he already knew about it, so the other two guys didn't have to tiptoe around it, did they?

shareAlthough he already knew it was the final Christmas night out, in reality, the decision to terminate the tradition was announced and supported by the other two characters. Primarily because they had more going on in their personal lives. It seemed evident that the Leavitt character would have preferred and was willing to continue the tradition. So the other two kept low keying the issue.
shareHow DARE you try to verbinate 'low keying' into a word?!?!?
What's going on? What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here...

Intentional you spel/gramer chec twat
shareYou do realize that my whole "how dare you..." post was a joke, making fun of myself for making up a word, right? I was being silly - not sure where we went wrong...
shareI apologize. I was on the fence whether the initial post was a joke. When I answered in good faith and got criticism rather than a thanks I was annoyed. Anyway...sorry.
shareNo prob - my joke was my way of throwing out kind of a folksy thank you. Felt better than just an arbitrary 'thanks.' Figured the word 'verbinate' gave it away! Sorry bout that!
shareSounds about right.
Lose the Game!!!!!!!
They wanted to enjoy the night. They all knew that it was the last chance to enjoy those traditions, and they wanted to celebrate without focusing on the negative elements.
