One thing I don't get (spoilers)

Why was this gonna be their last Christmas?
I get that Seth Rogan was becoming a father and Anthony Mackie was "famous" but that side plot almost didn't seem necessary. Rogan's wife was like really cool letting him hang out with his friends even going as far as to give him drugs. I feel like she woulda been fine letting Levitt hang out for Christmas every year (which in the end winds up happening,)

I feel like it was more their last Christmas to Party Hard. That's what it seemed more about to me.

I believe the point of the "last Christmas" was this was the last time the other two could commit to the night. Like you said, one is having a baby and he will want to start traditions with them, and the other one was starting to get busy. I don't think the point was to never see each other one that night but to stop the tradition of dedicating that night to parties and drugs. I'm sure that we saw at the end when they were all together just enjoying family was the end game the whole time

I think the point was that Mackey and Rogen were being dickish and not wanting to hang out with their friend every Christmas anymore with their own families (or popularity) expanding, while JGL still had the right idea of the spirit of Christmas: being together.

"Oh, my God. Bear is driving! How can that be?!"

Now that idea I can get behind.
It seemed a little secondary I feel tho.
I feel like the film would have been better if it concentrated more on that aspect.
Shock value seemed to be the key to this film's humor, but I actually thought it was well done.

It seemed to me like they hadnt been hanging out much recently, other than on Christmas. There was a lot of exposition that seemed like they were all catching up on each others lives. Mackie didnt even know that Levitt was broken up with his Ex. That being the case, spending Christmas with some old friends that you barely talk to anymore is a big commitment.
