What do you guy's think about the agency's interrogation method?

I found that scene the highlight of the film, the guy's happy demeanor and the way he so joyfully carried out his "methods" were extremely unsettling and it was intense. The lead's ignorance as to what was transpiring was the key for it's success. I am not a surgeon, but the thought of cutting the tendons finger by finger actually made me blink for a sec, bravo to the filmmakers for going out of the box with that. It was what I will remember most about a film that was mostly forgettable albeit entertaining.

I'm also curious as to how bad of an injury that would be, obviously it would require surgery to repair and it would make sense that it would also render those particular fingers useless as the severed tendon would recoil up towards the forearm muscle leaving the affected fingers useless, but it is a repairable injury. What I am most curious about is the pain that would impose, they were very neat clean cuts, was this meant mostly as a mental torture or would it hurt like hell? It sounds like a nice way to warm up your vic, you know, before getting to the more severe bits.😏
