Last Season is Harder to Watch

Wife and I really like this show, but both of us feel the over-the-top characterizations became even more over the top in the last couple seasons. Alexa's eye-rolling, vocal fry, head tilting attitude seemed cute at first, but became less and less organic (?). It has become Annie Murphy's go-to delivery for every single line or utterance. Every damn line.

The same for Dan Levy. I enjoyed his performances for quite a while, but then his extravagances seemed to grow and became a little annoying.

We have spot-checked a few scenes from earlier seasons (2 &3) and their characterizations, while not drastically different, were just a bit less annoying. I feel the actors, who absolutely nailed the characters from the beginning, just found something that worked and then just went on auto-pilot.

Still, we enjoyed the entire series.
