They should Reboot MMPR instead...

.. of these - Wanna-be Mighty Morphing Shows.

Since Saban bought the power rangers franchise back a few years back, we have got Power rangers Samurai, Power rangers megaforce, and this.

From first Episode of Power rangers Samurai, if was obvious that they were trying to make Samurai, and after that megaforce, and still Dino charge into an adaption of the MMPR.

But why the hell aren't they making a reboot of MMPR?? In 1993- 1995 they had to make up there own storylines - sort off.. After season 1.. because there were only 40 - 50 episodes in the japan version.

They were pulling if off.. The stil used the zord fottage, but still it was great.

I know this would cost more money. But it would make the fans go crazy, and everybody would start watching power rangers again.. And with the new Movie comming.. It would be perfect.

The could use new actors again. Maybe use some of the stories from sentai and make a completely new MMPR. Same suits and all.

Man.. This could be a dream come true.

No. MMPR is done, it's finished. And, newsflash - it wasn't that great. The show survives on change, and it's best seasons are those which try fresh and new ideas (In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, RPM).

But why the hell aren't they making a reboot of MMPR??
Erm, because there are other sentai with new ideas, suits, zords etc?

If they did what you're describing, the show would die on it's ass. Why rehash old ideas for the sake of nostalgia? Let MMPR be, it's long gone.

But it would make the fans go crazy
No, it would make the small collection of adult fans who can't get over MMPR go crazy, which makes up about 2% of the audience.

and everybody would start watching power rangers again..
Power Rangers just passed it's 20th anniversary, it doesn't need help.

It wasn't that great?

Don't you think that is your opinion? MMPR was the most watched tv show on saturday mornings.

If they were so great ideas, why aren't they using the suits of RPM or timeforce in the movie reboot? Because few would watch it.

I don't think you understand how powerfull the original show was. The green ranger, that white ranger was the most popular, and greatest rangers ever. Jason the red ranger is also no doubt the greatest red ranger.

Most of those rpm and timeforce lovers were born later than MMPR.

If they did what you're describing, the show would die on it's ass. Why rehash old ideas for the sake of nostalgia? Let MMPR be, it's long gone.

Why? Why make any reboot? Can't you see it's blaber. Why make terminator, why make star wars again, and the list go on and on.

You're talking numbers. I'm talking quality. Yes, MMPR was the most popular, or at least it was for about a season and a half. The popularity boom was over by the end of Season 2, and ratings were dropping rapidly during Season 3 - and if they'd kept the MMPR suits, the show would have died.

I'm talking about actual quality. Most other seasons have better writing, characters, and story than MMPR. RPM is probably the best written series of the show, closely followed by Time Force. Something being popular does not make it great, believe it or not. If it did, then the Transformers movies would be considered works of art.

You know the answer to that - money. That's why they make reboots (and I'd add Star Wars is a continuation, not a reboot). Terminator was a semi-reboot, and was also a pile of crap to boot.

Don't you think that is your opinion?
Think? It is my opinion. And I'm stating my reasons for said opinion. I judge on a quality level, not a popularity level. Out of interest, how many seasons outside of MMPR have you seen?

You're absolutely right that MMPR doesen't have the best writing. And that is not what i want to see again. It's more the concept of MMPR.

Of course the show would have died eventually. They can't continue with the same on and on. Zeo was a succes, turbo was a disaster, and space was really good.

Well. Yes. That is mostly correct. But if you think about the quality today of the power ranger show,, maybe they should try to start over with new stories. This is a children show, and they haven't seen MMPR/ or did'nt grow up with it. And i did'nt say they should have continued with the suits after MMPR.

But i know it's not gonna happen. They simply don't have the budget for it.

That's fine.

I have seen Zeo, Turbo, In space, Galaxy, dino thunder, rpm, samurai, megaforce all the way to the end.

And the rest i have tried to watch. But did'nt stick with it.

There is one thing i hate with the new shows. They aren't making the zord battles like they used to. It looks like it's computermade most of it.

Well, that's the fault of the sentai, not PR. And I agree the zord battles are quite underwhelming these days.

WHAAAAAAT??
Turbo is way better than season 3 of MMPR and Operation Overdrive
How dare you call Turbo a "disaster"
Its apart of my childhood
We're talking about ratings. Turbo was a disaster as it almost cancelled the show.

I never cry for turbo
 Why would you be crying anyway?? I don't know what you're talking about half the time.

The future is sh*t, just like the past...

reply

Well, Power Rangers was cancelled once after RPM
But 2 years later, saban brands brought back the franchise

Speaking of turbo, i like turbo
Its part of my childhood, i mean its better than operation overdrive&samurai

Turbo is okay in my opinion but RPM is a Masterpiece

reply

The adult actors were good in Turbo, but the addition of Justin hurt the show. Plus the writing was lacking. Actually, though Space is considered one of the best, it was really only the second half of the series. I think the first half was as weak as Turbo.

Edit: Actually, it was only the first 13 episodes that were weak.

I think you're right
RPM has the strongest writing
Way more powerful than season 3 of MMPR

Time Force and RPM is way more superior to Samurai&Super Samurai&Season 3 of MMPR

These 2 seasons had a strong story, good character work, great soundtrack
These 2 seasons deserves an A+

There's nothing wrong with rehashing old ideas given that the audience for Power Rangers, regardless of theme, is there. Power Rangers has survived for so long because it's marketable to a constant audience. All seasons are great in their own way, but in terms of having something to market to a wide audience, the familiarity with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is undeniably there.

Even the thought of them remaking with the movie that is going to be released soon in theatres, is enough to make me cringe.

Call me old school, but I still to this day LOVE the old MMPR series, and every series that has come after it.
For me it's a comfort, and I know as I get older it's more kitchy and more kiddie then I remember; but you know what that is what I love about the show.

I say no to rebooting it; but yes to keeping it going with the different plot line or at least the different suited rangers every year or two.
Even though when I was younger that was something that I did not like, and despised them changing actors every years; it is something that I have now come to really like within the franchise.
If a formaula works, and lets face it the PR formula does work very well; then why change it.

I think this is a case of Nostalgia Blindness again.

The original MMPR was amazing...but is very outdated compared to some of the Seasons we've gotten recently. While its writing is superior to Samurai and Mega Force and it had some impressive Zord battles, that's really all its got over the more recent Seasons.

The movie Reboot will be awesome as it will allow the show to continue while also scratching that nostalgia itch so many of us have. If we're lucky, we'll get a Power Rangers cinematic universe while still getting the television show to offer us new and fresh ideas.

Because as you said, it would cost more money.

reply

You said it yourself, it would cost a lot of money, the show was always relatively cheap to make because of the non-union and the majority of the actions shots already filmed.
