Anyone else wish they would have just left it alone?

The Room is funny because it's just such a flat out bad movie. It wasn't intended to be bad. Which is what makes it so good.
I wish so badly that they weren't making this movie about it. Milking the room for all its worth just makes it lose its original charm. Greg is trying so hard to make it sound like he knew it was a big joke but he still agreed to be in the movie.. He's just trying to make himself look good by throwing tommy under the bus.
Part of the room is the mystery behind Tommy. Where the heck did he come from? Was he ever a child or did he just appear as is? Why did anyone agree to work with him?
Sorry to say but I feel like James Franco is just going to ruin this whole cult following by trying to be funny. .

You need to watch "Room Full of Spoons" when it's out

Yeah, it's based on a book about the making of 'The Room'. I think it will be like an 'Ed Wood' type of comedy/drama. It won't be an outrageous comedy like 'This is the End' or 'The Interview'. It'll be like 'Birdman' or 'Ed Wood'.

My only issue is.. Now it'll be a widely known film. One of my favorite things has been introducing my friends to The Room over the years.
Once this gets released, the masses are gonna know all about The Room. It's gonna lose its niche appeal. It's not a bad thing necessarily, just a bit of a bummer.

I know exactly what you mean. For any cult classic, the fact that it was this not well known film and it being awful is what makes it great. There is more lure and mystery to certain cult films. There is a part of me thinking about it will lessen the charm of the film. It's like if they did a making of Showgirls film now starring like Jennifer Lawrence or some other popular actress. It cheapens what made it good IMO. The book was great on Audio.

Obviously I'll give this movie a chance but I am not looking forward to it. I'd rather see a documentary about this than a movie portraying this film (which seems cheesy to me to be honest), which reminds me I need to see Room Full of Spoons.

Greg threw Tommy under the bus? Tommy is the luckiest guy in the world to have a friend like Greg Sestero who has had to put up with TW's narcissistic, arrogant, self-centered BS for years. And he's remained TW's friend all the while refraining from truly skewering TW like he has certainly deserved to be skewered. In every interview you can always tell Greg tries to be truthful but ALWAYS tries to hold back enough & put things in a way that doesn't scream TW is a freakin' narcissistic idiot!

Tommy Wiseau built that bus, funded that bus, wrote all the lines for that bus, directed that bus, laid down in front of that bus & then somehow managed to get in it and drive that bus over HIMSELF! TW should be ever grateful to both Michael Rousselet & Greg Sestero, without these two, Tommy Wiseau would have been completely forgotten & relegated to complete anonymity.
