Meg's arc in NYC was so far-fetched. She does some compliance work & is courted by a prestigious New York City law firm. Why? She has a degree from Florida State, not exactly an Ivy League law school. And she wasn't a good lawyer even for her family. She disregarded her father's wishes for his Will and never did prepare the paperwork John asked her for to protect his family's financial interests.

No doubt Alex, a big client of the firm, strongly suggested that they bring her on-board.

Not like the firm would actually know anything about her work on the will. They knew her work on the development and probably vetted her other local work. But, it really was Alec who made that happen to get her to NY. The firm probably got a nice bonus from him for hiring her.
