Who is Charlie Peterson? And, why would he want to talk to Eric? He is 28 years old, so it couldn't be Kate's son.

He is reaching out. The memory Eric experiences is of Kate saying she wanted a big family, and wanting to adopt as well. I think it's supposed to be some kind of healing moment for Eric, sharing happy memories of Kate with her bio kid.

Beginnings are always messy.
