The moral of the story

This movie was great, really funny and charming. But it's kinda funny the moral of the story seems to be "don't have kids or else you'll end up a grumpy old lady." Fair enough, maybe that's true.

But the moral also seems to be "you need to be young and beautiful to find success." I did enjoy the message that life is short but that seem kinda shallow. Cmon now, not all old people are lame.

Great acting by the lead characters though

You're assuming that it's a morality tale. It's not. It's a light comedy that doesn't preach at all.

But for amusement, let's say there is a moral to the story, in which case one should look to the end of the movie, not the beginning with the "grumpy old lady."

In the end, it's "Love and understand one another" as even the grandmother and the mom made up in the end. And the father just learn to live and accept both ladies taking credit for the grandson.

And the moral also is not "you need to be young and beautiful to find success." The young and beautiful kids didn't find success at all with their music (at first). It was grandma bringing back old songs that initiated the band's success.
