Walter just FIRED Paige in the latest episode ("Strife on Mars").

Unbelievable! Every time the writers get close to getting these two together, something negative always happens to prevent them from becoming a couple. This time, Walter decided to "apologize" to Paige at the end of the episode by firing her from the team and offering her another job with "twice the pay" elsewhere. She then responded by telling him to "go to hell." I like this show, but they are doing a great job at making the lead character (Walter) look like a massive jerk.

It's the story of "Waige" they aren't going to rush them to be together. Plus, it was only the ending cliffhanger, you know Paige isn't going anywhere.

I think by now we should accept that while Walter is a genius, he is socially inept. In his own way he was trying to give Paige a graceful "out".

He found out what she had said to him while he was suffering oxygen deprivation in space and he decided that she must be as embarrassed about it as he is. So, he got her a new job elsewhere. In his mind, he was doing the right thing. And Paige has never exactly been straight and honest with Walter. She is supposedly the one who understands human interactions. But she is being as coy and manipulative as any fifteen year old girl with a crush.

reply

Yep, you got it.

Fair point. Plus, there are about three episodes until the Season 3 finale. Moreover, Katharine McPhee recently posted a photo on her Instagram of her and Elyes on the beach commemorating the end of the season, so I guess we'll see what happens!

reply

I know this has been resolved but this is not the problem with "Waige" it is the problem with EVERY TV relationship.

Is she leaving the show or is this just a temporary story? The show was renewed for season 4 but ratings have dropped quite a bit so next season could be their last. Every time Walter starts to get more likable they make him a jerk again. Happy's mad all the time bit is getting old too. Sly, Toby and Cabe are all likable, they make the show watchable.

reply

I wouldn't think that she is leaving the show. If she was, some fans might like it, and others not so much, due to the "will they, won't they" relationship status of Walter and Paige. I have been following this show since the beginning and have found that this cast is one of the most likable on TV right now. Hopefully, Walter and Paige will reconcile by the end of this season or a little bit into Season 4, because I'd hate to see them become enemies over something like this.

I checked the next episode on wikipedia and Paige is listed in the cast so it looks like she'll be back. Ray is a guest star, nice to see him again, he was a good character.

reply

Yeah sounds like he was only with the team temporarily until Walter and Paige got together, which I was glad to see! I have to say, though, that "Something Burrowed, Something Blew" was probably the best episode with Kevin Weisman (Ray) in it to date. He was hilarious! Happy and Toby's marriage was also great to see as well!

On that note, it will be interesting to find out where the writers will take this series from here on out.
