Fantastic and fun film!

I went and saw The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part today. It was fantastic and a lot of fun! The voice cast was fantastic and everyone was awesome! I loved the animation and there was lots of clever in-jokes and references. There was some really good twist and turns in the story and I really liked what they did with it. The songs were catchy and creative. It was a delightful and enjoyable film, fun for people of all ages. I rate The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part a 9/10.

The trailer had me worried with the dialogue that might as well have just said, "Girls rule, boys drool" but thankfully it wasn't really representative of the movie. It was actually a surprisingly complex film with the interplay of the brother and sister and how the lego characters represent different parts of them. That sounds messy but it was handled well. It was cool to see a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey's Star Gate sequence even though it was brief. Overall I liked it though it has a few issues.

I liked it too. Possibly more than the first. The first was great, but sequels sometimes do tend to up the action more, and be more over the top, which great if done right.

I was worried when I saw reviews talking about how there's more cut backs to the real world than the first. I HATED that twist at the end because it took me out of the story and ruined the effect of the characters when it's just a kid playing with Lego's rather than staying legit Lego world. I rarely even watch too much of the movie once that part comes up. However, in this movie, it was handled better. There was something less obnoxious about it. I guess because it was done in & out during the final climax of the first film.

I had mixed feelings on Rex. I checked out spoilers before the film, so I knew the twist going in. But I still liked him & hated to see him go.

If I gave ratings, this one would get an 8/10.Again, I still could've done without the real-world juxtaposition. But it was handled better, so the score is better than the first. Would've given it a 9 if not for that though.

I liked it too! Okay, I didn't love it as much as the first film, the Lego movie thing is no longer new and unexpected, and I wasnt laughing nearly as frequently as I had at the first movie.

But this movie did lift me out of a depressive mood that had been going on for a few weeks, so it definitely gets a thumbs-up overall!
