What does the last shot mean? (Spoilers)

Does anyone have an interpretation about the last shot in the film. It shows two (presumably) tourists taking a picture in the desert where Jesus met the family. I'm at a loss, any opinions?

a powerful bit of punctuation, it puts the story (which is as much about the landscape itself) into a modern context.

Thw two people in the last shot seem to be a father and a son -taking a picture at the same place where that tragedy between a father and his son happened over 2000 years ago.
