I'm surprised that this movie is inspired by the Skylar Neese murder because I don't see any similarities between them other than that like Skylar, Sara had a pathetic excuse for a best friend (only difference being is that Skylar had two). Other than that, I didn't think they were anything alike, both Skylar's killers were her "best friends" and both planned her murder.

Another tie is the motive for the murder. In the Skylar Neese case, her two best friends were in a relationship and were afraid Skylar was going to out them, so they killed her. Though they changed it up a bit in the movie, Sara is killed because Ashley and Jade start to have a romantic connection and Ashley sees Sara as a threat to their relationship.
