off the top of my head:
1) Skylar was not rich. her family could barely scrape by
2) she was from WV, not Cali
3) She lived in an apartment, not a house
4) she snuck out through her window, not the front door. This was one of the first clues to the case that led everyone to know she snuck out of the house.
5) in the movie, the girls were never close. In real life, Rachel, skylar, and shelia were super close at one time. it is still unclear exactly what went wrong, though shelia and rachel did have a sexual relationship.
6) rachel and Shelia conspired to kill skylar. In the movie "rachel" had no idea a murder was about to take place.
7) they killed her in the woods, not in some abandon building.
8) in real life, they buried her in a shallow grave.

There was a theory going around that Sheila and Rachel killed Skylar because they were afraid of being outted as lesbians.
shareI just watched a Dateline episode about Skylar Neese and read up on the incident afterwards. She wasn't buried in a shallow grave, she wasn't buried at all. She was covered by rocks and branches.
