Silent, empty street at end?

After he leaves the bar, before his daughter takes off after him, he's shown walking down a deserted, silent street.

The whole movie seemed SO LOUD and CROWDED so I'm pretty sure the quietness and emptiness was intentional in that scene.

But it also seemed faked and out of place.

Was anyone else startled by the scene and also confused what it meant?

i even think the daughter was imaginary as a customer walks in and she walks out ignoring him or maybe he ignores her

You're insane.

my sanity is not the issue here benman

its whether or not the daughter was talking to him

in actual fact he spends most of the movie talking to himself

I agree that the silence was a juxtaposition to the rest of the movie but not "faked." I interpreted it as an extension of the chasm,if not the pinnacle, of a lack of communication between the two. To me it clearly meant redemption and renewed hope.
