Interesting idea, but how do you execute it?

Sorry, maybe if they focused on people in containment trying to find a cure or showed the actual collapse of society it would have been more interesting. If people dont have a memory would they have any self-awareness, retain the ability to communicate, know to put on clothes? I cant imagine how random interactions with other people would be without the benefit of memory, but it's a difficult concept and one that I imagine would be a lot less interesting and far more tragic then they would want to put into a movie.

Yes, it would have been good to learn a bit more of how things happened or what they're going to do about it but then it was from the perspective of the characters. They don't know what happened and therefore neither do we. A bit like The Road (2009) if I recall correctly.

Replace belief with knowledge.

star trek the next generation had a similar scenario in an ep called conundrum.

embers was not entertaining, but it was probably one of the most significant movies i have seen in a very long time. it was forgettable and for that, i gave it 10/ 10.

You're way too focused on the 'plot'. The point of the movie isn't to get into how something like this might happen - frankly it won't happen. It's to examine what a life without memory might be like for various types of people. And it DOES explore the different ways they might deal. Are we violent by nature? The one young man seems to embody animal aggression. Are we better than animals by virtue of reason, and is that an armor against the failure of our memory, as suggested by the educated man? Will love always find a way, despite lack of knowledge to bring the young couple together? Is it wrong to bury ourselves in memories for fear that new experiences will change us?

It asks and examines all kinds of questions and approaches. Your interest in how this phenomenon might be studied is trivial and uninteresting in comparison.

Do you really think people can have violence, reason or love without memory? Or are you really the kind of dunce that just enjoys insulting people on a website?

Frankly from your analysis I cant imagine how stupid you must be, but it must be pretty stupid.

um, that's exactly the question this movie is exploring, and you're a dunce for thinking it's not a valid question. ok, when i see a woman, and i'm attracted to her within a group of other women, that's not memory that's deciding that i like her. that's raw animalistic chemistry. cleavage, pheromones, the fact that someone kissing my neck feels incredible. that's nothing to do with memory.

the whole point of the movie is to explore how much of is memory history and upbringing vs. what is baked into our core genetic makeup. clearly some babies are quiet, while others are more excitable and aggressive by nature. introvert vs. extrovert is not training or memory, so much of that is pre-baked. nature plays it's role, likely a significant one, and that's what makes the whole question worth asking and exploring.
