some could see it as depressing, while another way to look at it is inspiring. think about it without focusing too much on the details of the virus, the circumstances, let all that go. with no memories, these two people, the lovers, are able to experience the inital discovery of each other, that amazing moment of first date, first falling in love, over and over and over again. that's quite beautiful, as most of us only experience that precious period only once or twice in life.
look at it another way, from the rage guy's perspective. even the painful trauma of rape washes off him only minutes later, and he's back to his natural self, aggressive that may be. there's hope in not having to carry the burden of trauma and pain around for the rest of our lives. who wouldn't consider taking a memory erasure pill that could wipe away all of our emotional baggage? that's actually a very big upside to this whole "memory virus" epidemic.
