Love this show but find Maura to be selfish...

I find this show captivating and well made but at the same time I find Maura so selfish and annoying this season... Love Laura and Shelly(both bat shi* crazy) and find myself rooting for Josh!!!

I think Maura is selfish too, reminds me of bruce jenner and reminds me of a few people I know who came out of the closet. They think it's all about them as if other people aren't closeted about a million other things. They act like the world held them back from who they are when the world does that to everyone in one way or another!

The scene where he threw a tantrum at the retreat about the born women policy was insane yet believable from someone like him/her. Men are ten times stronger than women. A natural born man is a threat to a woman physically for sure, and if the women wanted to feel "safe" then they have that right. Let Maura go start her own getaway and she can make all the rules she wants. Maura even admitted to hodling women back before, and then after he leaves in a huff, he goes and uses his dick to have sex with a woman. He wants his cake and eat it too.

I agree that Maura is making lots of errors and does act somewhat selfish, but I can forgive that... for now. Maura hasn't been on hormones long enough yet. Several months after the physical changes begin, her thought processes will also change.

I would really like to see them explore the ramifications of hormone therapy. More than likely they'll exaggerate it for comedy. After the first month of hormones, the breasts start to get very tender (lots of comedy potential here). After several more months, your mental state changes and slowly aligns with your gender. Your likes and dislikes change and that can be annoying because you have to discover yourself all over again on some level. On rare occasions it can be really messy and emotional (more comedy potential here too).

In my opinion (based purely upon my own experience), it will be a lie if they make Maura attracted to men. More than likely, there will be a shift where she can understand the attraction to men, but she will also lose most (if not all) of her attraction to women. This is what happened to me. Unfortunately, hormones can't perform miracles, but they certainly do change you.

So those who truly transition lose long-held attraction. So Maura who has been insistent on being attracted still to women will lose her attraction and become attracted to men.

I think that a very realistic - and poignant, as well as being though-provoking - direction to take would be for Maura's hormone therapy that helps with her female gender identity to cause her to start to lose her ability to get and maintain erections, while still maintaining her "heterosexual male" sexual identity.

This will force her to make a tough choice about what she values more - being teh gender she feels is right for her, or being able to enjoy sex the way she wants to.
