S05: why all the travel?

What was the purpose of the BGs moving the addicts all over the place in vans and planes? Was the camp near the beautiful Salton Sea some sort of slave labor or bum fight operation that I maybe missed? Seems like a horrible business model for a drug dealing operation. Bonus question: is the term "shill" to refer to a junkie some regional slang, or am I officially old?

I wondered about the same thing regarding the travel to and from the camp.

The "shills" were accomplices in the pill scheme, pretending to be legitimate patients getting fake prescriptions filled in exchange for keeping them high.

Cheers. Maybe I'm weird, but I'd think a crooked doctor would already have a built-in clientele that wouldn't necessitate all that funny business, and if you were going to expend all that money on travel expenses and manpower and housing, not to mention human rights deprivations of all those "willing" participants, might as well put them to work.

And I might be wrong, and am definitely pedantic, but isn't the main purpose of a "shill" to fool and drum up "legitimate" customers?

All this to say while there was a lot to like about this show, it overstayed its welcome, the main symptom of which being increasingly lazy writing imo.
