Too much comedy

I didn't realize that Thor was a stand up comedian.

^^^

come on you set yourself up for this^ one.

Its also IRONIC too considering WB fired Snyder, hired A Comedic Writer/Director to completely reshot and rewrite the movie and Spent another 50 + million dollars in A Direct attempt to Make the film lighter and more fun So Parents would Bring "Brats" to see the film

talk about Ironic, WB went to unprecedented levels to try and make Justice League Kid friendly....and Still failed...

I find this quite hilariously, your statement was clearly a jab trying to suggest Justice League was more mature and not for KIDS...Yet thats not the case at all, WB tried everything they could to make Justice League a very "Marvel Studios" like kid friendly film....they just failed spectacularly...

again you picked the wrong example....what u should have said was "I didnt see any brats at BvS movie"

this would have made your point much better...even though BvS was awful...It at least was Snyders Baby, Synder got to make the film With his Dark, depressing and Joyless tone, It had plenty of Murder and "Adult" tones and concepts, it would have been a much better example to throw out if your trying to make the point that DC films are more Adult and not catered toward kids...

Justice League on the other hand was a spectacular fail....WB intentionally tried to copy Marvels Kid friendly tone, went to unprecedented levels to do so...and Still couldnt get kids or anyone really to come see the film...

Basically your point was totally Lost due to you picking the wrong example! Justice League is not a good example to try and suggest "WB doesnt make films for kids"....BvS would have been a better example(But I think you were so embarrassed By BvS you just couldnt bring yourself to even mention it)

With Thor 3 Disney recognized they had not Nailed Thor yet with audiences in either of the 2 Thor films....So Disney went with a different approach...It resulted in Box office Gold, Critically and Fans Praise....Disney Swung and hit a Grand Slam

on the other hand WB too realized they hadnt nailed The DC characters With MOS, BvS and SS, So WB Panicked and decided to Change everything after Snyders "Unwatchable" first cut of JL....WB decided to go with the same approach as Marvel, try to make the film fun and light and cater to families and children...it resulted in Box office disaster, and Critics and Fan disapproval

Disney Succeeded in taking a new direction with Thor 3, WB spectacularly failed in an attempt to take the same direction and get the same audience

Nice one.

? It is one of the best movies of that year! Maybe speak to someone if your life is that grim.

reply

Best movie is subjective anyways. People liked it because it was silly fun. Thor was a joke compared to his other movies where he was more serious and a badass.

reply

Absolutely right

This is a parody of thor movies

reply

I mean, c'mon, Thor is not supposed to be that funny.

reply

The benny hill music was awesome too.

reply

I found the first two movies to be taking themselves WAY too seriously and unintentionally hilarious, so I found Ragnarok refreshing.

reply

I enjoyed all the comedy moments -- all character driven, as they should be.

reply

Of course he's a smart ass. This was more or less just another day at the office for him.

reply

Yeah, I had the same problem with Pulp Fiction. Way too many laughs. That's because my soul is dead and I hate smiling. I require my movies to be dark and edgy and emo. Anyone have a razor blade? My cuts are healing.

reply

LMAO!

reply

What a nice strawman you've constructed.

reply

You MUST confuse sarcasm with strawman. I refuse to believe you're dumb enough to use the term strawman because the very usage of that term implies that the OP is providing an actual argument.

That would mean you believe this to be a logical argument: "I didn't realize that Thor was a stand up comedian."

If you want to claim to be this dumb, then PLEASE, by all means, do so... But I'm not about to assume this about you.

reply

Such a closeted response

reply

this is my favorite of the Thor movies.

reply

I agree. I know Marvel is known for the humor in their movies (in contrast to DC), but this is one movie where they should have toned it down. The movie is full of devastating tragedies that just come one after the other in rapid succession. Thor watches his father die, a seemingly unstoppable enemy destroys his supposedly indestructible super weapon, he is enslaved and forced to fight gladiatorial games, he loses an eye, and he watches his people turned into refugees when their homeland is destroyed.

But sure, he'll be making jokes and wisecracks every five minutes.

reply

He actually doesn’t. In fact he is relentlessly trying to get back to Asgard for much of the movie and seems to not understand why everyone around him cannot see that. Instead they all act to various degrees of aloof.
I think he deals with what is being done to him very well and still tries to keep his mission and goals alive (get to Asgard, stop Ragnarok)

reply

The comedy was fine. The frequency of it was not. Could've improved with 25% less comedy. The opening hanging-from-chain scene, for instance, would have been much better without Thor as the schlepp with stoner level jokes.

reply

Agreed.
