Box Office Prediction for Thor 3?

Thor 3 is interesting....

First the MCU films and Brand is clearly established and at this point has a track record of opening between 75-100 Million...

Thor 3 Will be no different...

But there are some things that make Thor 3 interesting.

first Thor 2 was the weakest MCU film, it got the worst reviews out of all MCU films, and It did not have great holds domestically and Finished only slightly above 200 Million.

I also think Time hasn't done the film any favors, Even among the hardcore MCU fans, most seem to agree Thor 2 wasn't great ...

given the reception to Thor 2, I would think Thor 3 might not perform much better....but I dont believe that because there are other factors.

Yes Thor 2 wasn't loved, but Marvel Studios has put out 8 moves since then and many of them have been UNIVERSALLY LOVED(Cap 2, GOTG, Civil War,Doctor Strange, GOTG2 and Homecoming)....so I got to believe Word of mouth and GoodWill from those movies will overshadow the disappointment of Thor 2.

Next, Thor 3 clearly has A Important and Exciting Story this time....Kevin Fiege has said :"Thor 3 Will be the Cap 2 of Phase 3" meaning the events of Thor 3 are going to have huge effects of The MCU...

Next, The HULK, With The Hulk and a movie with some of the Planet Hulk Storyline...its going to add HUGE excitement.

Prediction...Assuming Thor 3 is Good and Gets somewhere between 80 and 92% of RT..

Opening Weekend----90 to 110 Million

total Domest----230--280 Million

World Wide---670-770 Million

Its also worth noting Marvel Studios has Knocked it out of the park so far with the 2 Thor 3 trailers...

It'll make money but not like the others because it sucks but there's a sucker born every minute!

2 questions?

by "Not like The Others" do you mean The Other MCU Films

and when you say "Because It Sucks"....where and when did you already see the film? It doesn't open for 2 more months, there hasn't been any screenings, do you work for Disney or Marvel or something and therefor seen a cut of the movie already?

anyways I'm confused by both of your statements, because I expect Thor 3 perform EXACTLY other MCU films...outside The Avengers movies, the majority of the MCU films make between 600 to 800 Million...and I see Thor 3 performing nearly identical

Thor 2 was made on the cheap (for a blockbuster), so its financial success was on the high end, actually. I think The Incredible Hulk was the only real BO failure.

Thor and Loki are still popular characters even if the second Thor movie didn't do well. I think people will come out to see them, especially with Hulk in the mix. They are also getting points for having a female villain, a woman of color as a hero, and the announcement of a LGBT character (Korg).

It should do okay.

I'm positive good to GREAT reviews will result in a 100+ million opening. Beyond that, we'll have to wait and see how well it does — though, Marvel movie+good reviews=sure hit. But I am confident this will end up being far and away the most successful Thor movie to date. In spite of The Dark World's lukewarm reception, Thor has grown to be a more popular character than ever, and his absence in Civil War apparently left a void in many. Furthermore, this being Thor's last big rodeo (and presumably last ever solo) before Infinity War comes out, plus the fact that MCU films have been killing it as of late, then I assume interest is high for these reasons alone.

What's more, the return of Hulk, Blanchett's highly anticipated Hela, the annoyingly lovable and popular Loki coming back, Doctor Strange's appearance, new interesting characters showing up, and the overall otherworldly thrill ride this looks like it's going to be, has clearly added a lot to the excitement. And with Hulk alone, he's been missing for a while and now he is coming back and smashing and talking like never before. :) But back to Thor himself. You have him facing a villain like we previously haven't seen before, he goes through a highly adventurous and personal journey, he appears to be as humorous but as fierce as ever, and above all we'll finally get to see him become the real god of thunder! Idk about you, but this seems like too much for a Marvel and superhero movie fan to handle. 😎

As for anything else, going back to those humorous vacation shorts, I would say the marketing has been handled properly. If you look at the record-breaking trailer views to several polls out there indicating Ragnarok as the most anticipated movie of this fall (earlier this year several chose it as the most anticipated superhero movie of the year), then that would tell you not to underestimate this movie. For all you know, it can very well end up being a bigger success than some might expect... dare I say, Marvel’s biggest hit this year.

Thor 3 will finish with 690 million at most. The previous Thor movies were severely disappointing.

DC is on a hot streak now after Wonder Woman, so Justice League will have an impact on this film's box office

just to remind you that Thor has opened with 107.6 million dollars :) Totally hot.

reply

Still telling you that there is no way this makes a billion let alone the 1.2 billion like you are predicting.

reply

It will.

reply

You must be a troll. No one could seriously think that this will make even more than Civil War.

reply

oh dear... if someone doesn't fall into your line of an imaginary barricade, it must be a troll; smh

reply

Twistedacrobat...still sticking with your !1.2 billion prediction?

Now can you see why this was so ridiculous?

Yes I still stick to the 1.2 till the 3rd week of JL.

You realize that's even more than Civil War don't you? Lol

reply
