Bad Movie

Worst movie I saw this year.

I'd have to disagree - but it certainly has its flaws.
I really wanted it to be so much better, and it really could have been, but it just didn't deliver.
There were too many aspects that just were totally under-developed.
- the 14 year old kid whose first job involves delivering telegrams to the families of fallen soldiers,
- the 14 year old kid growing up in wartime America but torn between the adult world of death and mayhem and the childhood cares of first loves and athletic prowess
- the Odyssey of Ulysseys and Homer and their home in Ithaca - and the idea of homecoming for those off to war
- the mentor role of the alcoholic Mr Grogan
- the life and love of Tom Spangler
- the way Katy dealt with the grief of losing her husband

So many different threads going off in different directions - any of which could have been interesting and engaging in their own right. In fact, there wasn't a character in the movie that I wasn't invested in and wanted to know more about.
But there's the problem - the whole thing felt so under-done and incomplete and unfinished.
And the ending just so contrived and improbable yet still predictable.
There was a bit to like about this movie - just none of it developed into anything complete.
