Basically already canceled

I honestly believe this show has no chance. It is so rare for a show with so few episodes ordered to survive.

In reverse chronological order, the four most recent network comedy shows with twelve episodes or less ordered for the first season that was renewed for a second season are:
2008-2009: Parks and Recreation
2006-2007: Rules of Engagement
2004-2005: The Office
2004-2005: Cuts

The past reveals a clear pattern that is heavily against this show succeeding as there have been A LOT of shows that fit into the category and were canceled.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

It's totally over before it even began. The promos look terrible, the premise full of contrivances, and essentially an attempt to get straight guys to watch two women possibly get it on.

With a six-episode order, it'll be yanked before episode 4. (I'm guessing #3.)

Ultimately it feels like a low-budget, low-concept series to fill in the time slot. The execs already KNOW it's getting cancelled, so maybe it was a charity (or tax-write off) project for someone. A full season of Parks would have been more satisfying.

I'm guessing they were trying to make Ellen DeGeneres happy.

reply

Can't believe DeGeneres would associate herself with this crap just based off of the promos.

reply

I thought it was based on Ellen's real life. You mean it isn't?

reply

It's based on Liz Feldman's life.

I've got nothing against God, it's his fanclub I can't stand

No way, this show looks like it will last at least 10 seasons. Are you kidding me?

Are you the executive that green lighted this? Be honest!!!

reply

But let's be real... Would we rather have a second season of this or a fourth season of Happy Endings? Fingers crossed this gets cancelled!

reply

thiw will get cancelled for sure .

reply

I can't say as I haven't seen it yet.

I would love a new season (or a few more) of Happy Endings. I watched this not really knowing to expect, but it really is just terrible. Cheap looking lighting and sets, horrible laughter track and terrible acting. She was great in Happy Endings, but the acting is just bad in this (I'm guessing it's largely down to this horrible format and just bad writing. I've got to episode 4 to see if it improves, but if anything it's getting worse and don't expect it to last long. But then this is the type of show that seems to go on while good shows like Happy Endings get cancelled.

reply

How can you even be for sure about that? I mean if these shows had less then 12 episodes and surivived to a second season or longer, you never know. But ho how do you know that is only 6 episodes? I mean do you work for the tv station, for what I understand that this show is also like Will & Grace, where if people like that show people might like this. Not that I was a huge Will & Grace watcher, but can't you be postive or are you always this negative? And I am sure as you well know it is too late in the TV season for it to have a full season order of episodes of 24. If this show does get a second season, I would love to see the look on your face, and even for somebody to say to you "told you so". Now I want you to be honest about this, now when these 4 shows that had 12 episodes or lesser were you also negative about their chances of surival and even before they even aired one episode much like how this show? This is a show that you would call a mid season replacement as I am sure you are aware of, but since you say a lot of shows with this many episodes have been ordered and have gotten canceled, and yet you haven't named any TV series, I am not saying you have to name ever TV series that had a 12 episodes or lesser order that did get canceled, just so you can have at least a more valid arugement?

reply

Wowza, calm down.
It'll be ok....

You went a little overboard there.

reply

Now how to you figure that?

reply

All the "I'd love to see your face" talk and the aggressiveness of your post. A little strong, no?

reply

The Walking Dead only had 6 episodes ordered.

reply

Sorry. Love the show. If you don't like it - go on and watch Modern Family.

reply

"If you don't like it - go on and watch Modern Family."

You mean go on & watch one of the best TV comedies of the decade? Ok then.

It's a midseason replacement. It would never have more than 13 episodes ordered. And yeah, a lot of shows that are midseason replacements aren't that great. That said, Undateable is back, and it was in the same situation last year. It looks like The Odd Couple on CBS, Fresh Off the Boat on ABC and, very probably, Last Man on Earth on Fox will be back. Empire on Fox has already been renewed.

THAT said, this show wasn't very good. I don't like having a big obvious laugh track telling me that something is supposed to be funny when nothing is. Same tired, played-out jokes.

reply

Thank God. The first episode was awful.

One of the worst "comedies" that I can remember seeing. I didn't laugh once, wasn't impressed by the characters, premise or acting... Even a naked Kelly Brook couldn't save this disaster.
