Terrible reviews, barely any buzz, will this show last?

I rarely post this kind of thread, however, I am always amazed at how Sharon Stone speaks so much crap. She even said she moved on to TV because the film industry has wiped itself out. I doubt this is the ambitious, career comeback role she is seeking.

The bitch once insulted Gillian Anderson ( a much better actress ) of being a " TV actress ". Arnold called her a pain working with her in Total Recall.

Not sure what TNT's expectations are with this regarding viewing figures, but on quality alone, it's poor. The dialogue was fairly bad throughout. It's like they took a bunch of well known actors, and told them all to just improvise. Their characters seem less developed than the audition stage of reading. It's also hard to take it seriously, when it takes itself too seriously, and it has that terrible 80's thriller TV score narrating all the scenes so melodramatically.

This one follows on the heels of intelligence for stupidity..

Guess by now we can write the script of how things will go before even watching it. Hoorah...

Intelligence was way better

This show is terrible. Dialogue is poor, Action is some of the worst I have seen outside Power Rangers ( at least they know they are camp and embrace it). The characters in the pilot are a cliche as you can get. I hope this show dies and the creator is out of showbiz forever.

Show breakdown- Clandestine US agency that saves the US one crisis at a time against the cliche bad guy of the week.. I would post spoiler alert, but I feel I am doing a service in outing the show for what it is, tripe. Russian gymnast supermodel baddie that is as waifish as you can get ( Anyone else tired of waif fu taking down trained soldiers and fighters and agents in TV and movies?) , US agent low rent version of Daniel Craig playing at being an action star. Wooden performances from Stone and the rest of the cast... Why James Earl Jones... WHY!!!! Hey, let's burn down an entire building with 1 can of spray something then use toss it in the fire and have it go off like a claymore! This genre is dead, and this show is the final nail. Bravo in killing a genre that used to be fun for everyone

70% of top movies produces are happenings, not movies with plots and characters. Its just stuff happening, like in a circus. Nice to be entertained, lions, clowns, the band comes in, done. No need for a review, no need to remember, the next show begins in 10 minutes.

In this sense, the "movie" industry is really dead. Its just good timewasters now, and thats the reason half of Hollywood searches for good TV now. They don't want to be the ones coming between the cheap magicians and the guy with a red nose who blows bubbles.

I don't necessarily disagree with her assessment of the film industry, but she's more wiped out than the industry could ever be. I doubt that if she were getting the kind of roles that somebody like Julianne Moore is getting that she would be uttering this nonsense in every interview she gives. She always wants to play the "I'm an aging actress" card when not even at her peak she could stand out. She lucked out with Basic Instinct and Casino, but that's about it. Even her move to TV seems desperate, her role in Agent X is not like when Glenn Close did Damages or Jessica Lange did AHS, them I can believe moved to TV to tackle more complex and interesting material.

Since she is a co-producer, I will go out on a limb and say: nobody really called, so she had to make a glossy show herself.

The same goes for many other "older" female actors, who have to produce themselves, Eva Longoria comes to mind, who has two shows running - albeit she doesn't go to set anymore, so she only guest stars.

I think that Close and Lange where luckshots by the producers of the respectable shows, who saw the tides changing and made the right offer at the right time.
FX had the money and the quality writers that could do such pulls, and its only 10 or 13 episodes a year, which is now the preferred format for many stars.

The only thing I would wish for, that Sharon at least tries to make this better. At the current level of quality, I doubt there will be a second season.

TNT gave Falling Skies 5 seasons, by comparison this show is Peabody worthy!

This show is her Katherine Heigl moment.....

reply

This is TNT we're talking about here. This show will probably last 7 seasons.

It all comes down to money with any tv show. I do wonder how much they're paying Sharon Stone to be in the show. If anything her paycheck could be the downfall to the show. The show might go on 7 seasons with a full cast of no-name actors, but a terrible show with someone of a paycheck like Sharon Stone, I'd be surprised if it gets a second season.
