Are they gonna lie about this and say Hitler snubbed Owens?

Pretty much all movies I've ever seen depicted Hitler in a propaganda fashion, and never in any way that resembles the man the real Hitler was.
As for the topic of Jesse Owens, Owens himself has said that he felt more well treated in Germany than he did in America, and that it was in fact the American president Roosevelt that he felt snubbed by. In Germany, although Hitler had to leave early, he did wave to Owens, who waved back. Later, they shook hands.
In this movie, are they gonna ignore this fact and portray Hitler as some jerk who refuses to acknowledge Owens victory because he's black or something?

You can bet your bottom dollar on it.

Goddamit! Things ain't workin' out for me today!

reply

So are you trying to say Hitler was some nice guy that everyone loved and never did anything horrible?

reply

I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong point... What he said is that Jesse Owens felt that he was treated better by the citizens and the governement of Germany that he was in his native country. And yes Hitler shook his hand, saying this isn't saying that he did only good things. See the real world isn't like second world war propaganda films.

reply

It's because they kissed his ass on purpose.

That would be closer to the truth than it would be to say that Hitler did nothing but horrible things. Most of what you ever hear about Hitler are either angled by the victors or flat out lies.

So your point is that aside from being a totalitarian fascist who is responsible for the deaths of about 10 million in the holocaust and being the most infamous antisemitist of the 20th century, he wasn't that bad of a person? Looking beyond his title of the one responsible for the third worst genocide in the history of man, and simply viewing his painting career he's alright. Is this what your trying to tell us?

reply

But yeah you are right about him treating Owens with more respect than FDR, I read a couple years back that he also personally congratulated Owens well before FDR. Of course this doesn't change that he was a pretty bad person.

reply

Are you saying anti-semitism isn't justified even after world war 2, after they themselves masterminded a holocaust of 10 million German civilians? If the Nazis deserves this kind 70 years of post war hatred, then what do the Jews deserve, having done the same thing?

reply

No one is going to logically reason with you!! Germany is evil and hitler is evil. I am neither white nor german but I do view history in retrospect to facts provided and possibility of said events. Trust me when I say it was laughable when I found about the hoaxes, yeah the holocaust. And the bastards using all kinds of dumb ass stories to milk money from ignorant people is plain dumbfounding to me. At least with the advent of internet we should be able to analyze things in a better way.

Owens was treated like *beep* in usa. Hitler loved his people and all his patriotic crap but was never a hater of others. When countries go to war we should expect tons of propaganda. As germany lost allies covered their mistakes by blaming germans and bomb anyone who oppose (iraq, afghanistan, etc). People in general are loving and peaceful, its the govt's that try to manipulate them. If hitler won the war then probably he too would have pictured badly about allies. Then again we cannot assume things.

I suspect Jewish Hollywood won't miss an opportunity to portray a simplistic narrative of evil Nazis and false White Supremacy vs reality of athletically superior blacks. I just hope I'm wrong and this turns out to be a good and accurate historical movie. Considering the fact even the trailer has footage of persecution of Jews when Berlin games had nothing to do with this I am not very optimistic.

Sorry folks, this still doesn't discount the fact that Adolf Hitler was evil.

Nobody here tried to discount that Hitler was evil. They're just talking about portraying what really happened in a film that claims to be historically true.

reply

Jesse Owens, welcomed as a hero in the Berlin of Nazi-Germany but an outcast in his native country, the land of the free. I wonder if we'll ever get freed of the truth of the victors regarding WW2.

reply

Wow,The Neo Nazis are showing up big time in this thread, with the same crap they always spout.
The scary thing is that a whole bunch of historically ignorant millinials are falling for their crap.

The scary thing is how people will call you a neo-Nazi for simply repeating things that Jesse Owens wrote in his autobiography.

That's because regressive liberals don't care about reality, only narrative. They'll happily call you racist if they think it'll shut you up.

@dalbrach

For real---I can't believe these idiot Nazi apologists posting their bull***** on here---they're actually trying to make like Hitler wasn't all that bad just because Owens was treated nice while he was there---let's be real, that's only because he was an Olympic champion---if he'd been a regular black man walking down the street in Germany in that era, it would have a whole different story. Anyone who wants to know what life was actually like under Nazi Germany as a black person should read this book called DESTINY TO WITNESS by Hans J. Massaquoi---the author grew up during Nazi-era Germany as virtually the only young black boy growing up in his immediate neighborhood, and he said it was pretty much a nightmare, to some extent.

Yes, they actually tried censoring the article, see for yourself that they removed Hitler shaking hands and the stuff about the hotels right before the trailer: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Owens#Berlin_Olympicshttps://web.archive.org/web/20150509141845/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Owens

They are changing history to make it Jesse Owens vs the Nazis

reply

The movie does bring up that Owens felt somewhat better about the treatment in Germany than the United States. Hitler is never really a character in this movie, always more like background. The other guy, Hitler's second in command whose name escapes me, he gets angrier and angrier as the film goes along tho.
