There's no number big enough.

Besides, this movie isn't really about what blacks want; it's about what Jews want.

The real story of Jesse Owens requires following his life after he returned to America, where he was treated without even the respect Hitler had given him. A movie that focused on that story would be addressing black issues, about the history of blacks in America.

But for Jews, Hitler is the issue. (Which makes sense.) So the movie focuses on two years of Jesse Owens' life. It's as if the story was Owens versus Hitler, which is not how either Owens or Hitler saw it.

There's no reason blacks should be appeased by being used as tools for somebody else's agenda. There's no reason they should be appeased by awards being given for that either.

All the awards are going to be racially politicized. Or even more racially politicized. That's the whole idea of this push.

If black films weren't going to get awards that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, why go so political at all? It's like an affirmative action policy: if it doesn't result in whites getting locked out of jobs they would otherwise have gotten, and if it doesn't mean that non-whites get those jobs instead, the money that was spent on the policy was wasted.

Black man here, and I like this movie. Of course it didn't cure at all racism at home (the US is a giant republic), but this is an amazing story and I'm glad it's finally being told.

It was a huge win for not only America, but for free people. The nazis losing on their own turf during the height of their racial superiority propaganda.

YOU don't like the topic, so you're trying to hit two birds with one stone by disqualifying based on the your racist theories about jewish people. There is no "conspiracy" behind this movie, and if it were a white man the story would've hit the screen 50 years earlier.

That's what I loved about the whole Jesse Owens story. Hitler, who was all for racial "purity" and favored blond, blue eyed people had his runner lose to Jesse Owens. It was perfect.

I guess all the 95% of hollywood films about whites are only made because they are about whites?

Jewish guy here...I for one was very interested in this film from an Historical perspective...I learned about Jesse Owens in high school decades ago and was always proud of him as an American...but I fear this real american hero who showed what strength,will and determination was to compete in the 1936 Olympics in front of the Nazis had been obscured by historical events that came after him...like the Jackie Robinson story....I was very pleased to see the filmmakers include what has now become a footnote in history about the two(2) young Jewish teammates being treated like dogs by our own country...If nothing it serves to educated young Black and White Americans how racial prejudice was not a unique evil directed at only Blacks....And most important I do hope both white and black young americans see this film only to discover a heroic man from the past and learn how in some ways we have changed and sadly some ways we have not.

Finally---It is shocking that this story has taken 80 years to make it to the big screen...Owens did not deserve much of the mistreatment he received from our nation during his lifetime but we should honor his contribution by seeing this important film.

Naaa man, this won't be the one. There will be several others, one just won the Sundance Film Festival and it probably has the best shot at Oscars next year. This was just ok.

As one who does not choose the movies he sees based on Oscar nominations I suggest the following: Instead of this useless banter which seems to go round in circles why not put forward your ideas as to how an 'Academy Award' ought to be bestowed.

Academy Award members = Mosly white male
Popular Vote = Popularity contest
Minority Set Asides = The award must go to a minority if one has not been chosen in the last x years.

I ask, what is fair?
