final scene reminds me of....

...the ultimate scene in a Dutch film I saw 20 or so years ago. In both, the lead character has been alienated and lonely, for personal and political reasons. The Dutch man has long believed that his parents failed to resist German occupiers of the Netherlands in WW2, and suspects that they may have betrayed neighbors to the secret police. He feels shamed by that. Ultimately he learns that his parents had hidden and protected Jews: they were heroes, not passive or even collaborators. At the moment of this revelation, he joins a crowd in the street. just a Fede does when he assumes an active role in the student strike.

Now--with that marvelously vague bit of half-remembered info--can anybody tell me the name of the Dutch film?
