Trapped(2015) It takes place in Iceland and has subtitles mixed with some English and the subtitles are easy to follow(some are very hard on the eyes and brain).

It's first 10 ep season has aired in Iceland in it's full 10 episodes, but due to a lag only 6 have aired on the BBC so far, but they are airing week to week. I highly recommend it if you love this kind of setting(Iceland during a blizzard),mystery and the way secrets can be held in a small, hard to reach community.

As for the episodes and finding them I can't help much as I have only found them on a streaming site with a name related to panels on roofs that absorb a certain kind of energy.

I just started Trapped and was immediately reminded of Fortitude. It's great so far if you're looking for something similar you should give it a shot.

Do you know where I can watch it in the U.S.? Amazon Prime doesn't have it nor does Netflix. There is an Icelandic movie called Trapped on Amazon Prime though, has anyone watched it?

Never mind about the Trapped movie on Amazon which said Icelandic, it's an old black and white movie that has nothing to do with Iceland.

Not released in the US at this time but The Weinstein Co. has the rights.

Never heard of Shetland, but it looks like a great series I'll definitely put it on the list.

As far as recommendations go in the "community crime drama" area I would check out the Netflix series Bloodline(2015), it's about a large family with deep roots into a small community in the Florida Keys, the beautiful setting is unrivaled. It is slow though, but with deep character development, exposing the many layers of each and every member, their limits, faults and beyond. I found it very rewarding and time very well spent, I'm awaiting it's final 3rd season anxiously. Check it out, see if it draws you in, people have varying views, most are very positive and most of the complaints are of the "too slow" variety, but I assume most of those folks watch a lot of case of the week type shows.

I was hooked with Bloodline in the first episode when it first aired. I love the characters and hate some ( Kevin is a douche) !

I downloaded Trapped and watched the first 2 episodes. The first was great but the second was a little slow to develop but I'm sticking with it.

That's cool that you liked Bloodline too, there was something with that pilot that hooked me deep too which is kinda rare after just one episode, I felt like I just had to know the full story. You get to feel like you really know the characters and there are a lot of moments, situations and or arguments that we the viewer can identify with, the built in faults in our human nature. In general it shows us the amazingly convincing fronts families put up to appear perfect to everyone while underneath lay a bevy of secrets spread out over decades.

Trapped can be slow in the beginning and hard to stick with, it lacks the colorful characters and multiangle plots, it certainly doesn't have all of the action and multiple mysteries that Fortitude had, but it gets much better in the latter half.

Fortitude, Trapped and Bloodline are three series that I feel like I've been waiting forever to return. I hate how it's not uncommon these days for a 1 1/2 year gap between seasons. The Leftovers is a prime example of one of those, the last season started October 4th 2015 and the next season starts April 16th 2017, like wtf is that? It better be a masterpiece with all of that time.

Shetland uses isolation as a theme.

The Kettering Incident is a similar show about crazy people doing crazy things in a beautiful somewhat isolated environment, this time Tasmania, which is now on my bucket list, although in many ways it is just the Southern Hemisphere equivalent of the Olympic peninsula, which is only a few hours up the road.

Try Cardinal as well, that's just come out and it's pretty good - not supernatural but has that arctic 'noir' feel to it. Bellevue has also started, but only seen 1 ep... not bad - and follows the 'things ain't right' theme.

Absolutely agree. Trapped immediately reminded of Fortitude, particularly since the main character's (Andre?) superior in Helsinki was played by the actor who was also the husband of Governor Hildur in Fortitude. Really liked both series, perhaps because they were such a breath of fresh air compared to the usual pablum from American/Hollywood episodic shows.

Does anyone know if Fortitude or Trapped is still in production? Would love anothar season or two from both of them to look forward to.

I believe there is a second season of Trapped scheduled for 2018. I have heard nothing about Fortitude.
