Danny Trejo in a comedy?

He's a very prolific actor - I think he's been in more things than Samuel L. Jackson over the last 20yrs, a tough feat to accomplish, though Sam has been the star of many/most while Danny more of a bit player - but he's not exactly known for his comedic chops. Should be interested in seeing how he does in this show.

From the promos, it looks eerily similar to George's old sitcom: strong wife and mother that he battles with and they battle each other, as well as sidekicks who mostly play lessers than him.

Not sure it makes it past Season 1 but I guess we'll wait and see how it turns out.

I would watch, if George were not in it. Danny should be the star. He is a very prolific actor. George isn't even a good comedian.

I think he's just being used to set up jokes, kind of like the gruff Hispanic who refuses to understand how hip and "with it" George is. Ugh.

Danny Trejo was in one episode on George Lopez show. Forgot what year it was? He and another guy was to rebuild the garage. I'm not sure about this new show. Not the same. I would like to see Constance Marie..or any of the two kids in a cameo role. George's mother in this show...played his Aunt in George Lopez show.
I just watched an episode...and was confused by it. I like to see Belita Moreno make a cameo. Don't know if this will go on.

I've watched the past few episodes strictly out of intrigue of Danny. I do think he does have some comedic potential, certainly, I just think this show or perhaps the material itself might not be for him. Give him another role with a proven comedic actor instead of a stand-up comedian and I believe we might see him shine more.

Off the top of my head, I think if you paired Trejo with William Shatner in a comedy, it would strike gold. Shatner proved to be hilarious in "$#*! My Dad Says" and I think he is someone Trejo's comedic pursuits could benefit from. Shatner's from Canada, could be a story about a guy south of the border who's paired up against his will with a guy north of it. Don't know if a cop show wouldn't be cliche but I think those two would do well together.

That sounds like an interesting idea for a show. I worship the ground that Danny Trejo walks on. I'd love to see "Brooklyn 99" get him a for a guest role as Stephanie Beatriz' father or uncle...
