Brittany and her sisters

I know from watching the 80's version they had Mrs. Beatrice Miller as their adoptive mother, but in here there is no mention of her or someone in her place. Did Dave end up adopting them too, or is he just watching out over them since they live in a tree in his yard?

I wondered the same thing too.
Also what's with Eleanor?
They've made her just as annoying as Brittany, lol

Miss Miller adopted them later on in the series. In the beginning, they were living alone and raising themselves after being left behind by their original care taker (a girl named Olivia).

In this series, they are by themselves. They don't live with Dave and the Chipmunks.

They show ms. Miller once in awhile on the show. They mention in a couple episodes that Dave adopts the girls Alvin complains he can't be a man. Then in another episode the girls live in the treehouse in the back yard then in another the girls are with ms. Miller. Hard to know since it's not consistent.

I've been wondering about the girls too. I can't tell if they're related to the boys or friends.

I admit I have watched this show several times and can't figure out the situation with the girls .Especially now with the new description of the show .It's very confusing .Since the description only mentions the girls in their character description and appears to imply that Brittany is looking out for her sisters .Which is odd if she is suppose a child herself .

Although it appears Dave sometimes is looking out for them,  then other times they appear to living without an adult supervision for the rest of it .The concept of it is kind of odd .Dave is a good guy as these are not his children but he does try to least put in some effect with them .He is kind of like the surrogate/uncle type .In fact ,I told daughter one time that I thought he  was their surrogate uncle when she asked me about it  .But you wonder why put the treehouse in the neighbor's yard, why not  your own ?It's cute how the girls Zipline into the house .They are adorable and a good addition to the show .Just kind of an odd situation .

From what little bit I'd heard in the episodes themselves, I was under the impression that the Chipmunks and Chipettes were brother and sister.

In the US version we have only seen them live in the treehouse and it is in the yard of a neighbor who has abandoned his property .The only exception was the episode that explained why they were living in the treehouse which showed them living with Dave and the boys for only a few days before they moved into the treehouse which they saved from being cut down .They have never lived with Miss Miller yet in the US  version although they do show her sometimes and Dave is only being shown now and again looking out for them .Brittany has gotten hurt  twice at school once Alvin took care of her which was cute the other time she was wobbling around on a hurt ankle. Each time they make implications that the school knows they are living alone as they give Brittany instructions on how to deal with the injury but nobody from the school has ever reported them for it .It's just weird .So no I don't think they are brother and sister .They seem to be explaining it as more like boyfriend /girlfriend .The movies made it look like they were brother and sister through .It seemed an easier way to describe it but I don't understand what's going on with the girls in this one .

The show has teased romances between them. In "Secret Admirer" for example, it's clear the Chipmunks have a romantic interest in the Chipettes, even though they refuse to admit it.
