If you hated it

You surely belong to the blind hater club.
This was a masterpiece. SRK is back with a bang!
Gave his 200% for this venture and it was evident throughout. The ease with which he played a 24 year old obsessed/psycho/charming/cute/delhi boy Gaurav is just brilliant!
The walk, the talk, the accent, the body language, the madness, nobody else couldve done it better!
All hail the legend, took a break from quality cinema with chennai express kinda movies but now back with a bang!
Loving it! 😍

THANK YOU SIR!! I so agree with you. These days I find it hard to watch these bollywood blockbusters as we in 2016 are used to a more intelligent type of storytelling with shows like Breaking Bad. I know it's stupid to compare but once you have the best, it is hard to get sucked in to this type of stuff. I have to say I LOVE Shahrukh Khan's acting, it is AMAZING and I get emotional every time! I enjoyed this movie because I am simply in love with the man but often I caught myself thinking "okay this is ridiculous" like how Gaurav fooled all those people at Madam Tassauds into thinking he is Aryan and had a warrant for his arrest. How he went from a completely dumb villager to mastering Aryan's posh-wannabe accent flawlessly, even fooling his wife and kids. How he had money to become basically an international spy by selling his father's little Delhi shop...LOL.

reply

Aryan was no villager. He was from central Delhi area. His accent was a normal English medium accent. You can hear him teading the cyber cafe rules in English. Also it is very possible to travel internally for any upper middle class Indian. He took trains.Ate from food carts. Was travelling like a cheap backpacker. What was impossible on it?

Yes I belong to the hate club, I hate his all movies he did since Om Shanti Om, gone are the days when he gave Chak De or Swadesh or Kabhi ha kabhi na. I hated the movie since trailer came out. I actually saw four Gaurav in 3 odd minutes of trailer, never seen such pathetic makeup of SRK. And why the hell he had to act as a fan it could have been anyone I mean industry is filled with so many good actors anyone would have played Gaurav's role ? the problem is that when I see it seems SRK loves SRK, and he actually does that in normal life too. Stating himself to be king of Bollywood millions of time is nothing but being fan of his own image. 1st half is brilliant the issue is with 2nd half. Forget about acting, where is the believable stuff ? It's all drama after drama and bad make up, acting, story, fight, direction everything sucks big time bro.

Sorry the national award is still a big no for SRK :)

reply

You should keep jerking off to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Dhoom 3..

reply

where the hell they came up here ? both were pathetic movies and I am not Sallu fan who is hating an SRK. Neither of Khans are good actors and giving any good movies in last 3-4 years barring Bajrangi. To me PK was also quite overrated if you compare and watch Oh My God and see what that movie achieved.

Dear Yankee, if you talk about religious sentiments then those were more hurt by OMG then PK and still I hate PK as far as movie is concerned. It achieved absolutely nothing but a marriage between a Pakistan boy and an Indian girl and that was't the reason movie was made. If it was an atheist point of view why only bashing and making fun of only religion ?? and leaving others as if proving others are less wrong ? that's not atheism ??

reply

[deleted]

Dear Yankee, again - please do not judge me. I have no issue a Pakistani Boy marrying an India girl or vice a versa. The problem with PK was it wanted to prove something else and it did something else and ended the matter on silly things, it proved nothing. OMG was never anti-god but an anti-superstitious. It's message was clear, there is a GOD, he is your friend he will help you. But there is no specific image, color, brand of it. He is everywhere even in statues and even in air, even in any animal but he is there.

Yes I am Hindu, but I agree with most of the stuff shown on OMG. I hate godmen but love God. So of course when I saw the god himself in movie my inner-self was somewhat satisfied but I am talking about the purpose and achievement of OMG and PK the former achieved what it wanted to and later just did a matrimonial service.

Dear Yankee,

I did answer your questions already I guess. OMG was made to establish GOD is there, but you stop finding him in anyone thing (like statue) he is there everywhere. So for the movie's sake if a God is shown then also the "Purpose" of the movie was well addressed which was regarding foul religious customs and against money minded god-men.

Q1- a human encountering a deity n befriending him. Sounds superstitious to me : YES in practice life, but sorry we are talking about a movie here. I did not see any alien befriending with humans, eating Paan and speaking Bhjopuri :)
Q2- a deity reviving back a human being from death. Wow lets forget medical sciences : Yes is an Alien can read your past by touching you then you can get back from death (btw he was not dead in the movie, he was announced dead by god-men - the God only recovered him from the paralysis) but your point is well taken however I would again say it was movie and for the sake of it give that liberty.

Q3: If God is everywhere, even in plants n trees n fruits, then y eat them at all : How do you survive without eating ? Is there a solution not to eat ?

Q3-what r the possibilities- encountering a deity or an alien ? : Well none practically, but I encounter some humans who are both deity and alien quite a few times.

Yes thanks a lot for keeping it down to simple words. I know where you are coming from based on comments "worship the creator not the creation" :) well I am proud on who I am and I love my religion and the teaching of it. I read it somewhere the religion and the political interest of a person cannot be changed as it comes from very inner thought.

Another interesting thing you asked "What will u teach ur kid? Science fiction or diety fiction?" well I will teach my kid the belief I have, the religion I follow and goodness the positiveness of it. My kid will go to school to learn science I do not need to do that and being close to my religion does not make me anti-science.

"They sink deeper in darkness those who worship sambhuti. (Sambhuti means created things, for example table, chair, idol etc.) (Yajurved 40:9) " - you should also read "the Geeta" I think that should get you closer to my thinking.

And finally, PK definitely made more money than OMG may be 10 times, but I am not coming from the $$ angle to prove film's achievement, if you are then I rest my case and what runs in China does not make anything different to how incomplete PK was, China success is not any certification.

Take care. This should be my last post on this topic :)

I agree with the OP who started this conversation. "Fan" is something SRK has never done. It's a different role for him and I think he executed it perfectly. Some people on here say SRK is back because of this film though in my opinion he was never gone. He did an amazing job on this film just like he has with his latest films over the past six years or so. For me personally I've loved all his work. Have I loved every movie he's done? No. Some of his early films were awful. But his later films have been so much better.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Ra.One
My Name Is Khan
Happy new year
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

all of those films are the best he's ever done.

The one and only film I didn't love was Chennai express. But the others I mentioned are epic and beautiful and I don't understand how anyone could dislike them. I truly believe "Fan" needs to be added to the bottom of the list of my favorite films of his.

And to the person claiming the celeb character in this film is based on SRK in real life, well you are one million percent wrong. SRK has always been humble and loving to his fans. In several interviews he has stated over and over he hates the word bollywood period. Never would he crown himself King of Bollywood. He's kind and loving and appreciates his fans in a way no other bollywood stars do. He's the one star who came in married and has stayed faithful to his wife. He is kind, selfless, loving, humble, loyal. He has never crowned himself king of anything. And those claiming otherwise are lying or being fed lies.

reply

Aye aye unitedstatesoftanya! you said it like it is!
Thats exactly how i feel.
SRK was never gone, he just took a break from serious cinema. Everybody deserves a break, no?
ANd yes, Chennai Express is the only movie that i didnt like either! lol. That was too cheesy.

And i know SRK is the most humble superstar in the world, period!

reply

Pk, Bajrangi Bhaijaan were good movies with universal appeal, that's why they were superhits. Even Airlift and Neerja, despite being niche films could connect with everyone.

Fan is something perhaps only SRK fans can connect with, that's why many are not liking it!

reply

The reason this movie didn't do well is because people want songs, cheesy dramas and comedy!
Fan was a totally different, an anti-bollywood movie in a sense!
Plus, SRK's intolerance comments are still hurting him too much!

reply

true but whatever srk was gud.

reply

Yup, he was brilliant! One of the best performances by him! definitely top 3!

reply

Let me say I'm the biggest fan of akshay and Aamir in bollywood but what srk did was truly at the best. I mean the way he played Gaurav I forgot it was Srk. Haters can deny it but I can say to all Srk fans yes it was his best after chakde. I rated it 7 the movie but srks acting was 11 on 10.
