Why do they keep calling POTUS a soldier?

She was Air Force, therefore she's an Airman.

reply

The airforce is a branch of the military therefore she's a soldier. That would explain it as a soldier is anyone who is engaged in military service.

reply

It doesn't matter if it's a branch of the military. She was Air Force so she's an airman. I was in the Army so I'm a soldier, Marines are marines, etc.

Soldiering. Soldier on. Can you do anything with the air or sea words to create a similar descriptive word.

AIRMANERING. Sailoring

AIRMANNER ON. Sailor on'

OFF TO BE AN AIRMAN. Off to be a sailor.

Heard any of those terms?

POTUS is also by default the Commander in Chief of the US forces. While not having an actual serving rank or the planner of any action POTUS is advised by Chiefs of Staffs of the various arms and civilian bodies. As such they are the underwriters or potential actions. And as Mr Truman is supposed to have said ' The Buck Stops Here'.

Not exactly sure what point you're trying to make there with the term 'soldiering on' but the original poster is exactly right. Here in the US those who serve in the Army are soldiers, Air Force are airmen, Marine Corps are marines, and Navy and Coast Guard are sailors. As for the position of Commander in Chief, that's its own position in and of itself having control over all branches.

I recall not long ago (less than 30 years ago) it was acceptable to call an airman a soldier, as the Air Force derived from the Army when it was known as the Army Air Corps. Yeah yeah, to the layman it makes about as much sense to call a Marine a sailor since the U.S.M.C. is also Department of the Navy, however, Marines were always called Marines (Leathernecks) and never sailor or soldier.

I was stationed at Lackland A.F.B. for M.P. school and this topic came up.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.
